Workflow – Making Open Research Work
CHORUS facilitates access to and information about articles and data reporting on funded research. It does this by collecting funder and institution metadata (information about articles and data) and providing visualizations and data reports of that information in a trusted and reliable manner.
CHORUSは機関や資金提供団体の論文や研究データに関するメタデータを収集し、助成を受けた研究に関するデータを視覚化して信頼できる情報を提供します。
Step 1 – Import Crossref and JaLC metadata of published articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters where the name of the funder and funder IDs are included in the metadata into the CHORUS metadata database. Funder IDs are from the Open Funder Registry managed by Crossref. The metadata includes funders’ grant information and Grant DOIs, and added links to funders’ RORs.

助成を受けて出版された論文や会議録、書籍のチャプターについて、資金提供団体の名前やIDを含むメタデータをCrossrefとJaLCからCHORUSのデータベースへインポートします。Funder IDはCrossrefのOpen Funder Registryのものを使用しています。メタデータには助成金情報のほか、Grant DOI、資金提供団体のROR IDへのリンクも含まれます。
Step 2 – Add links to the ORCID IDs of authors and contributors, datasets from DataCite using ScholeXplorer and Crossref, links to other article versions in funder repositories, and whether articles have been deposited in the CLOCKSS and Portico dark archives for preservation.

収集したメタデータに①著者のORCID IDへのリンク②ScholeXplorerとCrossrefを利用してDataCiteから取得したデータセット③資金提供団体のリポジトリに論文の別バージョンがあればそのリンク④CLOCKSSやPorticoといったダークアーカイブへの搭載状況を追加します。
Step 3 – Audit articles for open access by interrogating member publisher platforms using CHORUS’ internal tools Manual Public Access Auditor (MPAA) and Automated Public Access Auditor (APAA), GetFTR, and Unpaywall data. While accessibility is reported in real time, Unpaywall is run across the CHORUS database monthly, and additional manual re-checking is undertaken on a regular basis.
The CHORUS monitoring system declares an article as open access if the audit process determines that the Version of Record or Accepted Author Manuscript is publicly accessible on the publisher’s platform.
ステップ３：オープンアクセス状況を確認
研究成果がCHORUS参加出版社のサイト上でオープンアクセスとなっているか、CHORUSの独自ツールやGetFTR、Unpaywallのデータを使って確認します。アクセス可否はリアルタイムで情報が取得できますが、Unpaywallは月に一度CHORUSデータベースと掛け合わせる運用となっており、加えて定期的に手動による再確認が行われています。
CHORUSモニタリングシステムでは、論文のVersion of RecordかAccepted Author Manuscriptが出版社サイトで公開されていれば「オープンアクセスである」と認定します。
Step 4 – Identify Institution Research Articles by querying abstracting and indexing sources under special arrangements. This process returns article DOIs whose articles have been authored by someone from an institution.

独自の方法で研究論文の抄録や索引情報を使ってDOIを特定し、機関に所属する著者による論文か確認します。
Step 5 – CHORUS Institution dashboards are updated monthly. Reports are available on demand, summary reports are delivered via email, and CHORUS APIs are also available.
ステップ５：ダッシュボードでデータを提供
CHORUS Institution Dashboardのデータは毎月更新され、ダッシュボード、レポート（XLS もしくは TSV形式）、APIでメンバー機関に提供されます。APIは個別のお申し込みが必要です。
