The Research Data Alliance (RDA) and the International Council for Science World Data System (ICSU-WDS) recently announced a new global framework for linking publications with datasets. The Scholix framework — Scholarly Link Exchange — consists of a conceptual and information model, with standards, guidelines and options for encoding and exchange protocols. The framework aims for a seamless exchange of information about literature and related data, thereby facilitating re-use, reproducibility, and transparent evaluation of science.
CHORUS Executive Director Howard Ratner is a member of the RDA and ICSU-WDS Working Group and CHORUS metadata was used in testing the Scholix prototype. CHORUS intends to use Scholix and other systems like it to link DOI records to discovered datasets. For more information about Scholix visit www.scholix.org.
